Happy Spring!

Rana and I went to the neighborhood park for a little spring photo shoot last week. I WAS going to post these photos last Saturday before Easter but blogger crashed! And then I forgot :-P Whoops!  Oh, well. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as Rana and I enjoyed taking them!

Rana kept "herding" the eggs to one side of the basket!

I tried to get Rana to take the basket. This was the photo I got XD

I love her sheepish grin in this one!

Totally relaxed. Just chillin' with her fellow bunny.

Rana crosses her paws on cue!

Bunny Rana did some rock climbing :-)

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And Happy Spring!

River Walk Adventure!

We have a really nice river trail next to our house. We took Rana for a "walk" a few weeks ago which quickly turned into a 3.5 mile hike. She was such a trooper! She was a really good girl on this walk because we did not encounter any children on the trail. Rana's kryptonite is children (oh, and pet stores). She goes from being a well-behaved puppy who walks very well on a leash, to a bouncy, frantic puppy at the end of the leash. She loves children a little too much. We are working on it, though. She has to sit and stay before she is allowed to greet children. That doesn't stop her from getting really excited, though ;)

"What do you mean we won't see any kids today?!"

Rana had no problem walking alongside us through a shallow part of the river. I was really surprised by this, because everything I have learned about her so far has showed me that she HATES water. But she tromped through the river with a big goofy grin on her face :)

Her favorite part was the sand. She LOVED digging in it! She was filthy when she was done. Fortunately all that mud and dirt just fell off of her as we walked back to our house.

Logs are fun!

She sat very still for me while I put a daisy on her head. I love her face in this picture :)

Rana's First Outdoor Adventure!

Rana is finally old enough to accompany us on (many of) our outdoor adventures! Yesterday we took Rana on her very first hike.

We started out the day by driving to Tipsoo lake. Unfortunately when we got there, we realized that dogs are not allowed on the Tipsoo lake trails :( That wasn't a problem for this particular visit because the lake trails were under several feet of snow. But we won't be able to take Rana with us on our annual August visit. Since there weren't really any trails to hike on, we decided to walk Rana around in the snow next to the parking lot.

It was like Rana had lived on snow her entire life! She walked right over the piles of snow like they were nothing. She was such a confident, happy puppy!

After playing in the snow for a little bit, we loaded puppy back into the car and headed for Boulder Cave. Rana passed out in her crate (as usual).

Boulder Cave is a basalt cave on the east side of the Cascades. The cave trail is less than two miles long and has about a 200ft elevation gain. It is a pretty easy hike, especially when the weather is nice. In years past we have attempted to do this hike during a heat wave. Yesterday we were lucky enough to hike this trail in 65 degree weather.

After Boulder Cave, we loaded back up into the car and headed to Untanum Canyon. We hiked for about an hour along a flat, grassy trail. The hike included a very long, bouncy bridge over a river which ended in a ramp down to the trail. Rana walked across the bridge like it was nothing and didn't even hesitate when it came time to cross the ramp! She is such an amazing little pup. I am so proud of her :)

Rana made friends with a few beetles and ants along the trail, and happily pranced in the long grass.

After Untanum Canyon, we did a very thorough tick/seed/bug/ect check on Rana. She really seemed to enjoy this part, especially when we asked her to lay on her back so we could look over her belly! She is so cooperative when it comes to any sort of handling :)

We then loaded up into the car and headed home.

Rana did such a wonderful job keeping up with us yesterday! She hiked like a champ! She very rarely pulled on the leash or lagged behind. She listened when we told her to leave things alone and was generally a perfect little lady :) I am very excited for when she is an adult and can accompany us on more difficult hikes!
